The
Prayer Pouch
 |
The
Prayer Pouch is a small knit bag, which can hold a Prayer Help. It may be a
cross, a compass, an angel, a stone, prayer beads or some other item. The pouch
and item are reminders to pray. In addition, they are reminders for the owner
that someone cared enough to encourage his/her prayer life.
The Blessing Center Prayer
Pouches are made by Phyllis Desch, Don
Rogers, and Dixie Szalejko, all members of the
Advisory Board. This poem was written by Phyllis.

Put your concerns inside this little
pouch
and pull its strings closed.
With this act you have given them to
God.
Hold the bag in your hand a moment,
take a deep breath, say a prayer and
smile
because you know God shares your
troubles.
The pouch could be all day, there on
the table,
so you remember God is with you.
It might be in your pocket to remind
you God cares.
Or put it out of sight, knowing that
God carries your burden.
Put your joys in the pouch
and pull the strings closed.
With this act, you are thanking God.
Hold it in your hand a moment,
take a deep breath, say a prayer and
smile
because you know God shares your
happiness.
The pouch could be all day there, on
the table,
to remind you God blesses you.
It might be in your pocket so you
remember God loves you.
Or put it out of sight,
knowing that God’s gifts abound.
Focus on these few moments daily.
It brings a greater mindfulness of our
Father
and his wonderful mercy and grace. |
