 In
addition to the
Certification Class in Blessing Based Spiritual Nurture, the following
courses are offered by The Blessing Center:
Practicum in Holy Listening (4 hours)
Completion of a practicum following the Certification Class provides the
student with the needed experience to begin offering Holy Listening to
children, youth and or adults. Certificate in BBSN and Holy Listening is
awarded.
Deepening Holy
Listening Skills
(2 hours)
Exploring the practice of Holy Listening as a way of life for those whose
call is to be authentically in relationship with others.

Stepping Up to Wholeness (Leaders: 2 hours, Young People: 4 hours)
The
Stepping Up to Wholeness Program is designed to assist children and
youth in developing life-long skills that will help them cope with crises,
challenges and problems. This program was designed to be used in public
schools or church-related organizations.
A Leader
Course will teach adults and older youth the foundational understandings
and practice of Stepping Up to Wholeness
The Youth Course will teach young people who want to “step up” to
wholeness, skills which will help prepare them to cope with the challenges
of life.
There is no charge for the Youth Course, though 4 registrants are
required.
Praying with Children and Youth (2 hours)
Explore ways of encouraging the practice of prayer.
Tangibles for Spiritual Nurture Enrichment (2 hours)
Experience items and activities which encourage spiritual growth,
including prayer sandboxes, labyrinths, prayer beads, sacred spaces, Holy
Listening stones. Explore the use of ritual, music, tradition and Bible
study in spiritual nurture.
Incorporating Spiritual Nurture into Preschools and Religious Education
(4 hours)
This is a “how-to” course, focused especially upon children and young
youth, in which participants learn to articulate the need for religious
education which recognizes each child’s innate connection with God,
spiritual depth and need for opportunities to grow in discipleship. In
addition discussion with take place about incorporating spiritual nurture
into existing programs and training volunteers.
Using BBSN with Adult Populations (2 hours)
Explore together Holy Listening, sacred space, Bible study and tradition
to encourage life long spiritual development.
Prayer Shawl Ministry (2 hours)
Begin a Prayer Shawl Ministry in your church. The teacher will offer
detailed instructions on starting this type of ministry and provide
testimonials from makers and receivers about ways spirituality is nurtured
in individuals and congregations, through a Prayer Shawl Ministry.
Family Faith Formation (2 hours)
The family is a child’s primary source of Christian Education and
Spiritual Nurture. This course explores ways to assist families in these
crucial tasks.
Each session will begin and end with a time of prayer and worship and the
class itself will be structured to honor the experiences and
understandings that the students bring with them.
Fee/class is $200, plus
travel and expenses for leader(s):
