Blessing Based Spiritual Nurture
Summer 2008 Certification Class
Monday, July 28, 11:30 a.m. – Wednesday, July 30, noon
United Theological Seminary
4501 Denlinger Rd, Trotwood,
Ohio

This 15 hour course will explore various dimensions of spiritual nurture, Holy Listening, discipleship, and faith development, as well as the biblical, theological and developmental foundations out of which Blessing Based Spiritual Nurture has arisen. Hands-on opportunities will be provided for exploring and making tangible nurture items for children through adults.

In addition, attention will be given to working with adolescents and adults (through older adults), in ways which encourage their continuing spiritual development. The course begins with a focus on children and teens, then moves to include all ages and stages of life, with particular concentration upon the needs of the oldest among us.

Each session will include prayer and worship and the class itself will be structured to honor the experiences and understandings that the students bring with them.

Christian educators, chaplains, and others who live, work and play with children, daily and in times of stress, will deepen their understanding and awareness of the innate holiness and spirituality of children and examines ways of nurturing children’s natural connection to God, as they grow.

Students who have previously taken the certification course may attend for a nominal fee, plus room and board.

The class is taught by Blessing Center Director, Dr. Jacqueline Nowak and United Theological Seminary Professor Emeritus, Donald Rogers, PhD.
